KantoDesigns

Built with intention.
For the life you're
actually living.

Seattle, Washington

The Beginning

Two founders. Complementary obsessions.

Kanto is built on two sets of capabilities that turned out to be made for each other. Dr. W brings the desire to design and craft unique objects custom fit for a specific individual or space. He also brings the research: a deep background in physiology and human learning that became the foundation for Kanto+. In short, he builds the things and writes the research.

His co-founder brings what the brand needs to reach people. A sharp product vision and designer's instinct for what feels right. She has a deep desire to connect with people, and a genuine talent for building communities around things that matter. She understands the need and drives strategy.

Together: a brand with two sides and one shared desire — the way couples create connection and the artifacts they bring into their life should be chosen deliberately.

“The best version of your life is the one you build on purpose — whether you're choosing what sits on your shelves or what you explore with your partner.”

The Craft

Dr. W: a decade of learning what machines can and can't do.

Dr. W has spent years exploring the edges of what 3D printers, laser etchers, and other CNC machines are actually capable of. His journey has gone from hobbyist, artistic collaborator, and teacher to someone obsessed with the gap between operating these machines vs. designing with a custom purpose in mind. It is the difference between running a CNC machine and understanding how light, material, and depth interact to produce something fitting individual taste and need, resulting in an artifact worth owning.

In our shop nothing is stocked. Everything is made to order — configured, layered, finished for the person who ordered it. That capability comes from failed prints, adjusted settings, ruined pieces, and the occasional moment where everything clicks and something comes out exactly right. Every order carries that history. Our machines don't shortcut the craft, they extend it.

Kanto+

Dr. W: researcher, writer, and the voice of Kanto+.

The same person who designs and builds our products also happens to have a deep research background in exercise physiology and human learning — specifically how people explore, develop, and refine new physical skills. Sex is ultimately the most profound physical activity we engage in as humans. It combines individual interests and capabilities with core relationship dynamics like how couples communicate desire, build trust through vulnerability, and sustain intimacy over time.

As a couple we have spent years at the intersection of academic research and real couple dynamics. We have found that sexual wellness is driven both by individual growth and constant rigorous exploration of boundaries and interests as a couple.

Kanto+ is a catalyst for that exploration. A collection of research, observations, and experiences, grounded in evidence; a free tool — Desire Map — that helps couples understand what they both actually want, independently, before comparing notes; a data driven exploration with guidance tailored specifically for you along common axes of kink and sexual interests; and eventually, a curated range of intimacy products chosen with the same care that goes into everything Kanto makes.

The content is written by Dr. W. with research cited where relevant. The tailored guidance is based on a couple's shared responses to the desire map. The point of view is honest and non-judgmental — because curiosity should never require an apology.

Precision-Made

Every layer, every etch is intentional. Dr. W has spent years learning what these machines can do — and how to push past both.

Evidence-Informed

The Kanto+ journal cites its sources. We don't publish opinion as fact — we do the research.

Warmly Designed

Great design and genuine community matter as much as the craft. Bold enough to be remembered, warm enough to be loved.

Made in the Pacific Northwest

With love from Seattle.

We design, print, and etch everything out of Seattle, Washington. The city suits us — it builds things, obsesses over craft, and takes its coffee seriously. We fit right in.

What's Next

Products launching soon.

The shop is being built out now — home decor and craft pieces first, then the Kanto+ product range. In the meantime, the journal is live, and Desire Map is free to use. If you want to know what we're building, the best way is to start there.

And if you're a designer, maker, or artist who wants to collaborate — we'd love to hear from you.
